Brandi was recently in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, and had an opportunity to check some of the local art scene. As might be expected in such a historic community, the flavor is slightly more traditional, with decorative and folk art being strongly represented. However, for a relatively small community, Colonial Williamsburg has a vibrant artist community as well as several very nice galleries and museums that are well worth checking out.

Among our favorite galleries were Linda Matney Gallery  specializing in contemporary art, and Williamsburg Art Gallery, which showcases some of the finest artists from the local community.

While you are in Colonial Williamsburg, be sure to check out the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum and the Muscarelle Museum of Art which features an outstanding collection of British and American portraiture from the 17th through the 19th century.
